After correct drivers were installed, many system restarts the C: drive still showing up as removable.

Downloaded INF driver followed by ME etc.Done this 100 times now on Intel platforms. My OS/Boot is installed on a Samsung 980 500GB NVMe PCIE 3.0x4 in slot M2M_SB. Started with the F1, initial BIOS and noticed my C: drive was removable in Windows Explorer icon on taskbar. Just upgraded to this Aorus Elite (not AX model) Z590 board from Z390 platform. C: Drive is still removable while all other drives are fine.ġ2:47:23 GMT -8 MasterVorn said:I read all these posts in this thread and I'm experiencing the same issue.

M2M_SB drive slot and the Standard NVMe Controller used by Windows, for some reason is using Removal Policy: 00000003? Why, IDK I did not change anything with this drive or mess with slot config in BIOS.I did a clean install of Windows 10 and drivers on the same drive, in the same M2M_SB slot. The drive is not removable with that value.

Normal Removal Policy for Windows 10 is 00000001.

Sure enough the M2P_SB has normal Removal Policy for the Samsung Drive. Either way it kind of sucks I have to hide my Windows Explorer Taskbar icon so I don't accidentally eject my main C: Drive.I installed another Samsung 980 500GB NVMe in slot M2P_SB just to see if it's the M2M_SB slot specifically. Not sure if this is a Windows issue or a BIOS, perhaps both. I am not messing with Registry Script to fix this. Optimized Defaults all on Auto, Intel PTT Enabled, All SATA Hot Plugs Disabled (no option for Hot Plugging NVMe anyway), XMP Profile Enabled, RC6(Render Standby) Disabled and XHCI Hand-off Disabled. I read all these posts in this thread and I'm experiencing the same issue. I uninstalled the driver and ran without it and also reinstalled it but neither fixed anything. The 2TB Samsung NVMe I'm having the issues with was installed around 2 weeks later. I added all those other drives about 1 week after my system (Windows, drivers, etc.) was all setup/installed/updated and have never had an issue with any of them. None of those other storage devices show up as removable and all of them have the correct read & write speeds in benchmarks.

I also have the following storage devices installed if it matters:ġx 512GB Samsung 970 Pro NVMe - M.2 (middle slot) - system driveġx 1TB Western Digital VelociRaptor HDD - SATA Only reported write speeds are way off.īIOS is F4d from April 2021 but I also tried F4 from June 2021 from here: and it made no difference to either of the issues. Samsung Magician benchmark reports 800 MB/s and 21,000 random IOPS when those value should be more like 2500 - 3500 MB/s and 200,000 - 250,000 random IOPS. I'm using it in the bottom slot of 3 on my Z590 AORUS Ultra and it:Ī) keeps showing as a removable SCSI driveī) has incredibly low write speeds For eg. I'm having this exact same issue with my 2TB Samsung Evo Plus NVMe drive which I just added to my system.
